Frequently Asked

Does this involve hypnosis?

Yes, but not in the traditional sense. These sessions work with what you might call a “natural” trance that arises automatically when work mindfully, and preferably with closed eyes.  (If you are not comfortable with eyes closed states of awareness, that is not a problem. I’m careful to work within your comfort zone in ways that work for you.)  This leads generally to a light trance state where we do the work. In this case, it is not for the sake of suggestion or regression, but rather to explore using techniques in the method.

Where do you hold sessions?

Sessions are either in-person (preferred) or online using Zoom. My home office is in Bellevue, WA. I can meet during the week or on the weekend. I’m happy to work with your schedule.

How much is a session?

Sessions are $125, sliding scale. I do not take insurance and can accept credit/debit cards.

What if it doesn't work for me?

If at the end of session, you feel it was not valuable, there is no charge.  The client and provider relationship has been shown to be the most important determiner of success for the client. In some cases, there is simply a mismatch. It’s rare, but happens occasionally.

What makes it "somatic"

Somatic means body based or grounded in the body. I will be “tracking” your body language, voice, eye contact and many other actions. The actions frequently have significant meaning which we can explore. For example, a person who lowers their head when saying certain words may be subconsciously experiencing, and physically  an urge to collapse. Similarly, a person that makes a fist when talking about a problem could be expressing anger non-verbally.  Knowing what has meaning and how to explore it carefully is crucial and is part of what I hope to provide.

Are you a registered therapist?

I am a registered hypnotherapist in the state of Washington.

Do you take insurance?

No, sorry. Insurance doesn’t cover hypnotherapy sessions. Cash, credit/debit cards, or checks.

How many session are needed?

That depends on you. Some people get enough to work with in a single session, others need a few weeks.  Once a week is suggested.
